Multi-room recording Studio in Oakland (Montclair). Work in house with Six Time Emmy Winner BZ Lewis
A Bit of History...
B.Z. Lewis began STUDIO 132 in June of 1996, recording demos for singer/songwriters in a suburb of San Francisco. The current Oakland location, which broke ground in 2007, was designed from the ground up with the help of Chips Davis, (Lucasfilm's Skywalker Ranch) and tuned by Bob Hodas.
Studio 132 is committed to the highest quality possible regardless of the size of the project. We specialize in getting the best performances from our musicians, singers, and VO artists for a dynamic performance, whatever the medium. Our philosophy is that when you come to us for help, we won't stop until we get the best possible results. Our staff engineers and producers pool their resources to meet the client's needs.
Our music composition and sound design credit list is massive! Platinum selling video games, national ad campaigns, and 15 independent films are just some of the highlights. We have one of the largest sound effects libraries in the Bay Area, and all the sounds are organized and searchable for incredibly fast access.

Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Studio 132 started in 1997, but really we were diong things out of a home studio since 1992.
What is your primary product or service?
We primarily record/produce bands and singer-songwriters. We're also home to popTuna, a company that writes music for film and TV, we also work with TheMixPack, a company that mixes music for people on-line, and the home of DrumTRaxx.com- a downloadable multi-track drum library.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My father has a recording studio, so it's been in my "blood" since day one. I went on to study recording after high school, and later I got a BA in classical guitar from the University of Texas at Austin.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Perhaps my best ability is that I really try and get the best performance from an artist- no matter what the genre is. I'm also a composer and multi-instrumentalist, so I can really produce and help an artist create their sound- if needed. I also know when to back away.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I moved from downtown San Francisco into a converted home two years ago- mostly for family/lifestyle reasons more than business. While I've downized things in one area, it's allowed me to focus more on the craft and time spent on a project.
What type of payments do you accept?
Paypal, credit cards, checks, cash
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
BZ Lewis the owner/operator
What are your hours of operation?
It really depends on the artist, byut generally I'm available from 10-4 every weekday, the weekends are booked well in advance, and sometimes I have an evening available...
