How long have you been in business?
Since 1949 when my grandfather purchased the business - 65 years
What is your primary product or service?
Glass and mirrors. We are a full service glass company where you can buy picture frame glass as well as walls of mirrors installed. We are union affiliated and can take on projects of any size.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I was born into the business. When I was 16 years old, and had a drivers license, I came to work after school. My mother was the book keeper and my uncle ran the shop. Their youngest sister, who's my business partner, was the secretary.
I had left the business when I heard my uncle say he would never retire and returned when he decided to retire some 20 years later. Margie, my aunt, and I have been running the business for 12 years now.
My background is that I'm a trained journeyman glazier and had project managed and ran my own business for 8 years from my garage before returning.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Personality. I'll meet you, discuss what you want done, come up with a plan with your input and push it through until you're happy with what we've done.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have 1 location in the Mission District and I'd love to find a larger space but we will stay in the neighborhood/
